Installing a Kitchen Faucet
Kitchen sink faucets are made on 8" centers and are available with or without the spray/rinse hose attachments. If you plan to use a spray/rinse, be sure your sink has a faucet hole to accommodate the spray hose. Kitchen faucet are available with connections to accommodate threaded, soldered or compression type supply lines. A typical hookup is shown in Figure 1 below.
Concealed deck types and 8" exposed deck type are available in two designs. A single handle control type is also available and is probably one of the most popular types out today. Installation for kitchen faucets is basically the same as for bathroom lavatory faucets as shown below.

Installing Kitchen Sink Strainers
Strainers should be installed before the sink is installed following these steps.
(1) Thoroughly clean around drain opening in sink.
(2) Apply 1/8" bead of plumbers putty around drain opening approximately 1/2" from edge of opening.
(3) Remove nuts and washers and place sink strainer body through opening.
(4) From the underside of the sink place rubber washer and thin paper or (metal) washer over large threads. Then screw large metal nut tightly against the washers.
(5) Complete the installation by further tightening the large metal nut using a spanner wrench
or nut wrench or hammer and screwdriver.
